Adverse Action Codes

An adverse action codes is a code that is given to a consumer who has applied for credit, but was denied based on information in their credit report. The credit reporting agency must give the consumer this code, so they are aware of the reasons they were denied. This helps the consumer understand why they were denied and gives them a chance to correct any errors on their report. Additionally, this code lets the consumer know that they have a right to view their credit report free of charge within 60 days of being denied credit.
