An authorized user by a credit card transaction is someone who is allowed to make charges to a credit card account by the account holder. An authorized user may be granted this status by the credit card issuer or by the account holder. Authorized users usually have the same privileges as the account holder, including the ability to make purchases, balance transfers, and cash advances. However, the authorized user is not responsible for repaying the debt incurred by those purchases. That responsibility falls on the credit card holder.
