Format-preserving Encryption (FPE)

Format-preserving encryption (FPE) is a type of cryptography that allows for the encryption of data in such a way that the format of the data is preserved. This means that, for example, if you are encrypting a 16-digit credit card number, the encrypted version of the data will still look like a 16-digit credit card number. FPE is useful in cases where it is necessary to maintain the format of the data, but still, keep the data secure.
