An introductory rate, also called an intro APR, is a low promotional interest rate offered by credit card issuers to entice new customers to apply for their products. The length of the intro period can vary greatly from issuer to issuer, but typically ranges from six months to a year. After the intro period expires, the interest rate on the account will revert to the standard APR.
