Merchant Account

A merchant account is a type of bank account that allows businesses to accept credit card and debit card payments. A merchant account is established with a bank or other financial institution that has been approved by the card associations (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, etc.) to process these types of transactions. When a customer makes a purchase using a credit or debit card, the funds are deposited into the merchant account and then transferred to the business checking account regularly.
