The Federal Trade Commission, or FTC, is an independent agency of the United States government that is responsible for protecting consumers from unfair or deceptive business practices. The FTC was created in 1914 by the Federal Trade Commission Act. The primary mission of the FTC is to prevent business practices that are anticompetitive or deceptive.
