"New verdigris cast - patinated"
Bronze Head sculpture by Kolio Karamfilov with rounded volume, incised features and a calm frontal presence.
"The head is the only truly human place. In my work, it stands for thought itself. People ask me, “Why only heads?” Because that is where the miracle happens. Nowhere else. And every head can change. It may be nothing more than a single line, or a single tear, with no flesh at all. It may be raw, rusted, patched together. Yet each head has the power to tell you so much."
It brings quiet authority to a room and speaks to someone who values form, depth and restraint over display. Placed on a console, pedestal or library shelf under focused side light, it gathers the space and suggests a collector’s eye rather than a need to announce.

Kolio Karamfilov (1963–2014) was a Bulgarian artist from Plovdiv whose work moved with unusual freedom between sculpture, drawing, painting, graphics, scenography, performance, installation, and photography. Active in Bulgaria’s art scene from 1983 onward, he was a founding member of the avant-garde groups The Edge (1990) and Disco 95 (1995), and exhibited widely in Bulgaria and abroad, including in Japan, Moscow, and Germany. His lasting importance was reaffirmed by the National Gallery’s 2024 exhibition Beyond the Man, dedicated to his work and legacy.
